Malus domestica 'Tydeman's Early Worcester'
NEW! Raised in Kent in 1929, this is one of the tastiest early apples producing heavy crops of bright crimson fruits. Crisp and very juicy with a sweet, aromatic flavour that is reminiscent of strawberries. Easy to grow.
Pollination: Partially self-fertile. Group B.
Season: late Aug - Sept.
Rubus (Tayberry Group) 'Medana'
This is the original Tayberry variety raised at the Scottish Crop Research Institute at Invergowerie. It produces heavy crops of large dark red-purple berries with a sweet aromatic flavour. Delicious eaten fresh, the fruits also freeze very well and make excellent jam. The canes are slightly thorny.
Season: early July - mid Aug.
Plant size: 3 litre pot.
Asparagus officinalis 'Pacific Challenger'
This new F1 hybrid is very well suited to cooler climates and performs well in wet soil conditions. It is one of the most disease resistant varieties with tolerance to Phytophora and Fusarium crown and root rot. Produces heavy crops of slender green spears with tight tips and very good flavour.
Season: mid.
Sorbus pseudohupehensis 'Pink Pagoda'
Originating from Canada, this outstanding variety is a close relative of our British native rowan. It produces large open bunches of beautiful vivid pink berries in the autumn that slowly turn pale pink and last well in to winter. The berries not only look lovely, they provide winter food for hungry birds. Clusters of creamy white flowers adorn the branches in the spring and are popular with bees. The large blue-green pinnate leaves are very attractive and turn to shades of red and orange in the autumn. Suitable for most soil types, but prefers a moist, free draining site.
Height x spread in 10 years: up to 6m (20ft) x 3m (10ft).
