Malus domestica 'Bramley's Seedling'

The UK’s favourite cooking apple. The original tree still exists in a garden near Nottingham where it was grown from a pip in 1809. The large fruits cook to a pale cream puree with strong acidity and flavour. Very attractive bright pink blossom. Stores very well.

Bred in the U.K.  RHS Award of Garden Merit  RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Pollination: Triploid (will not act as a pollinator). Group B.

Season: Nov - Mar.

Available for delivery: late November/December - late April.

Culinary apples are those that can be cooked with. They tend to be larger than dessert apples and are not immediately edible – unless you like your apple very tart. The ‘cooking’ process makes all the difference; the result is a change to texture and a mellowing of flavour that is perfect for pies and tarts. Dual-purpose apples are those that can be cooked early in the season but become sweeter in storage, making them suitable for dessert use from late winter onwards.

Our apple trees are grafted onto M26 semi-dwarfing rootstock, which will produce a tree that is easy to grow, easy to control and easy to pick. Bush apple trees will grow 2.4-3.6m (8-12ft) in height and spread. Unless otherwise stated, apples are supplied as two year old bare root trees and will be 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) high on despatch (including the roots). If you require one year old maiden trees for training as an espalier or fan, please advise us when ordering. Trees are available from late November to early late April.

Pomona Fruits offers an amazing array of cooking apple trees for sale to elevate your culinary endeavours. Whether you’re an avid baker or simply enjoy the tartness of a well-cooked apple puree, our selection of cooking apple trees is sure to tickle your fancy.
