Cordon Apple 'Ellison's Orange'

This wonderful dessert apple is over 100 years old. It is an excellent alternative to Cox as it is much easier to grow and is particularly recommended for the north where it is a popular garden variety. Crisp red-flushed fruits. Intensely rich and aromatic with a hint of aniseed. Highly resistant to scab and mildew. Very attractive blossom. Season: late Sept - late Oct. Self-fertile.

Bred in the U.K.  RHS Award of Garden Merit  RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Cordon Plum 'Victoria'

The UK’s best known plum, raised in 1840 and grown commercially. The fruits are pinkish red with sweet, yellow, juicy flesh. A very popular dessert variety but also excellent cooked, producing a lovely pink syrup and almond aroma. Heavy cropping. Blossom is frost resistant. Season: late Aug. Self-fertile.

Cordon Cherry 'Summer Sun'

This dark red dessert cherry is an excellent choice for the north and more exposed areas, cropping well even in poor summers. It is compact in growth and ideal for small gardens. The fruits are large and sweet with an excellent flavour. Season: late July. Self-fertile.

Our Mini Orchard Collections are the perfect solution for those yearning to cultivate their own orchard fruits in limited spaces.

Are you dreaming of a bountiful orchard but find yourself constrained by a modest garden? Our Mini Orchard Collections are tailored to meet your needs, offering a delightful array of orchard fruits in a compact, manageable format.

The modern approach to growing orchard fruit has evolved, and we’re proud to present our space-saving columnar trees. These vertical cordons are not only fruitful but also aesthetically pleasing, making them ideal for smaller gardens, patios, or even balconies. Imagine picking fresh apples, pears, plums, or cherries from your very own mini orchard, mere steps from your back door.

Cordons can be planted as close as 60-90cm (2-3ft) apart, allowing you to create a charming fruit tree arrangement in even the most modest of spaces. For those with limited ground space, these trees thrive equally well in containers, bringing the orchard to your sunny patio or balcony.

To ensure your mini orchard remains manageable, we recommend maintaining the ultimate height of your cordons between 1.8-2.4m (6-8ft). This not only keeps fruit picking within easy reach but also maintains the compact, columnar shape that makes these trees so special.

To ensure rapid establishment, cordon fruit trees are supplied bare-rooted and are approximately 1-1.2m (3-4ft) tall on despatch (including the roots). Trees are available from late November to late April. This ensures you can establish your mini orchard during the optimal planting season, giving your trees the best start possible.

We select our most popular varieties for our Mini Orchard Fruit Tree collections, making sure that the trees are either self-fertile or have compatible pollinators in the same collection.

For those concerned about the complexities of orchard fruit cultivation, fear not. We provide comprehensive guidance on care and maintenance, including summer pruning techniques to keep your fruiting laterals in check and preserve the tree’s compact form.

With our Mini Orchard Collections, you’re not just purchasing trees; you’re investing in a fruitful future, a slice of countryside charm, and a sustainable way to enjoy homegrown produce. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a novice, our collections offer an accessible entry into the world of orchard fruits.

Embrace the joy of cultivating your own orchard fruits, savour the satisfaction of homegrown produce, and create your own little Eden with our Mini Orchard Collections. Your journey to becoming an orchard keeper starts here, regardless of the size of your outdoor space.

Don’t forget to include tree stakes and ties on your order. All young fruit trees require staking and for better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).
