Quince Trees

Quince trees are a delightful addition to UK gardens. They provide beauty and tasty fruit, and are suitable for gardeners of all skill levels from beginners to experts. If you’ve been searching for an ornamental and productive fruit tree, a quince tree might be your perfect match.

Quince produce large, showy soft-pink flowers and beautiful perfumed golden fruits. They are often used in Middle-Eastern dishes as well as being delicious added to fruit pies and crumbles. The fruit is also used to make jelly but our favourite is home-made quince vodka! Quince are usually grown as free-standing ‘bush’ trees. Choose a sunny, sheltered location. Unless otherwise stated, quince are supplied as two year old trees and will be 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) high on despatch (including the roots). Trees are available from late November to late April.

Growing quince trees in the UK

Quince trees are well-suited to our British climate, thriving in sunny, sheltered locations. For those in cooler areas, ‘Serbian Gold’ is an excellent choice as it is particularly hardy.

Caring for your quince tree

Quince trees are relatively low-maintenance, but proper care ensures the best results. Plant your tree in a sunny, sheltered spot, provide adequate water, and stake young trees for support.
