Cherries are an expensive luxury in the shops so it makes perfect sense to grow your own. In the past cherries were renowned for their excessive vigour, making them inappropriate for small gardens but with the use of modern rootstocks that is no longer the case. Our UK grown cherry trees are grafted onto Colt semi-dwarfing rootstock, which will produce a tree of medium vigour that is easy to grow, easy to control and easy to pick. Bush cherry trees will grow 3.6-4.6m (12-15ft) in height and spread.

We offer a range of cherries that are suitable for smaller gardens throughout the UK. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot. Unless otherwise stated, cherries are supplied as two year old bare root trees and will be 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) high on despatch (including the roots). If you require one year old maiden trees for training as a pyramid or fan, please advise us when ordering. Trees are available from late November to late April.

Are you dreaming of cherry trees laden with succulent fruits, their branches swaying gently in the breeze? Look no further, for Pomona Fruits have a fantastic range of cherry trees for sale, grown in the UK and perfectly suited for cultivation in our British climate.

Why choose cherry trees for your garden?

Cherry trees are a brilliant addition to any garden. Growing your own cherries makes perfect sense, as shop-bought cherries are often an expensive luxury. Moreover, homegrown cherries taste far superior to their supermarket counterparts.

The perfect variety for every garden

We understand that selecting the right cherry tree for your garden can be daunting. Fear not! Our range includes:

  • Dessert cherries: Varieties like ‘Stella’ and ‘Summer Sun’ offer sweet, juicy fruits perfect for eating fresh.
  • Acid (Cooking) cherries: The ‘Morello’ cherry is ideal for pies and preserves and the tree thrives even in shaded areas.
  • Compact varieties: For those with limited space, Sibley’s Patio ‘Stella’ and Sibley’s Patio ‘Kordia’ are both excellent choices.
  • Early, mid or late summer varieties: Maximise the cropping season by choosing more than one tree with different ripening periods.

Our cherry trees have been grown in the UK and are specifically chosen to thrive in the British climate. Choose from varieties that:

  • Are resistant to Bacterial Canker, a common concern in the UK
  • Can withstand poor summers, ensuring reliable crops even in challenging years
  • Are suitable for northern regions and exposed areas

Cultivating success: tips for growing cherry trees in the UK

To ensure your cherry trees flourish:

  • Plant a self-fertile variety if you only have room for one tree.
  • Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil.
  • Consider growing a tree as a fan against a south-facing wall.
  • Prune trees during the summer months to avoid infection from Bacterial Canker.

Beyond the harvest: the joy of cherry trees

Cherry trees offer more than just fruit. They provide:

  • Beautiful white blossom, transforming your garden into a picturesque haven in the spring.
  • A habitat for local wildlife, supporting biodiversity.
  • A focal point for garden design, adding structure and character.

£34.95Apple Tree 'Granny Smith'This well know variety was discovered in Australia in the 1860s and is grown in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and parts of North America and Europe. In many countries it is regarded as a dual-purpose variety but it requires a long hot summer for the sugars and flavour to develop and is therefore normally only suitable as a cooker when grown in the UK. It produces heavy crops of bright green apples with lighter flecking. The greenish-white flesh is coarse textured and juicy and has a sharp flavour that sweetens in storage. The fruits are perfect for pies and tarts as they retain their shape when cooked. They are also good added to salads as they are less likely to brown than other varieties. The tree is easy to grow and heavy cropping.Buy Now
