For those seeking a space-saving solution without compromising on fruit yield, our cordon plum, gage, and damson trees are the perfect choice. These slender, vertically-trained trees are ideal for smaller gardens, allotments, or even container growing on patios.

Plums, gages and damsons are a wonderful choice of tree to grow in the garden as in favourable conditions they will crop reliably, producing masses of fruit year after year. Cordons should be restricted to 1.8-2.4m (6-8ft) in height and can be spaced 90cm (3ft) apart. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot. To ensure rapid establishment, cordon plum trees are supplied bare-rooted and will be approximately 1-1.2m (3-4ft) tall on despatch (including the roots). Trees are available from late November to late April.

Are you struggling to choose between the myriad of varieties available? Let us guide you through our carefully curated selection.

For traditional plum lovers, we offer the ‘Victoria’ plum, the nation’s favourite, known for its reliable crops of large, oval fruits with a sweet flavour perfect for eating fresh or cooking. However, if you’re looking for something truly special, consider the Cordon Mirabelle Plum ‘Ruby’. This cherry plum variety, bred in the Ukraine’s harsh climate, produces an abundance of large dark red fruits with deep red flesh. The fruits are exceptionally sweet and juicy with a delicious peach-like flavour, making them perfect for eating fresh or making jam.

Perhaps you’re drawn to the refined taste of gages? Our cordon gage trees include classics like the ‘Cambridge Gage’, known for its excellent rich flavour and reliability. For those in northern climates, ‘Denniston’s Superb’ gage is a wise choice, offering heavy crops of sweet, red-flushed yellow fruits.

Damson lovers need look no further than our cordon damson trees. The ‘Merryweather’ damson is a popular choice, offering large, juicy fruits suitable for both culinary and dessert purposes. For those seeking a more traditional flavour, the ‘Prune Damson’ dates back to the 17th century and is widely considered the best for culinary use.
