Dwarf Pomegranate Tree 'Nana Gracilissima'

Dwarf Pomegranate Tree 'Nana Gracilissima' Code: PMG001

£46.95 46.9500 In Stock New

Punica granatum 'Nana Gracilissima'

This dwarf pomegranate will look very attractive in a large container on a sunny patio or balcony or planted in a mixed border. It is naturally compact with a rounded growth habit and has been grown as a mini-standard with a clear stem and bushy head. It will grow to around 1m (40in) in 4 years. Bright red flowers are borne from June to September. The fruits, although small, are very tasty to eat and can ripen during the late autumn and early winter in the south of the UK after a hot summer. The small copper coloured leaves turn bright green in the summer and then yellow before falling in the autumn. The tree is very hardy (down to -16℃) and is resistant to drought.

Pollination: Self-fertile.

Season: November/December.

Plant size: 4 litre pot.

Available for delivery: all year.

The Pomegranate (Punica granatum) is an ancient fruit, native to Iran and widely grown throughout the Middle East and Mediterranean countries. Whilst they are mostly associated with warmer climates, some varieties of pomegranate are hardy down to -20℃, so they can be grown successfully in the UK. However, they require a long, hot summer for the fruits to ripen, so have a much greater chance of fruiting if grown in a greenhouse or poly tunnel. Pomegranates should be planted in a sunny, sheltered spot in well drained neutral/alkaline soil. Alternatively they can be grown in containers. Pomegranates are supplied in pots and unless otherwise stated in the product description are available for despatch throughout the year.

We recognise your desire to cultivate these jewel-like fruits, steeped in history and brimming with health benefits. Our pomegranate trees are chosen to bring a touch of the exotic to British gardens, balconies and patios.

Are you enchanted by the idea of growing pomegranates but doubtful about their viability in our climate? Our pomegranate trees are specifically chosen for their resilience to British weather, making your Mediterranean fruit-growing dreams a tangible reality.

We often hear from gardeners worried about fruit production in our cooler climate. While it’s true that pomegranates love warmth, our trees can indeed fruit in the south of the UK, especially when given a sunny, protected position. The ancient French variety ‘Provence’ is very hardy, down to -20 degrees.

We provide expert advice on maximising your chances of a good harvest, from site selection to pollination tips.

Pomegranate trees are remarkably adaptable and less demanding than you might expect. They thrive in containers, making them ideal for those with limited garden space or who wish to move their trees to sheltered spots during harsh weather.

For those of you intrigued by the ornamental value of pomegranate trees, you’re in for a treat. Even before fruiting, these trees offer visual interest with their glossy leaves and striking orange-red blossom.

Each pomegranate tree for sale comes with detailed care instructions tailored to UK conditions. From planting and pruning to feeding and watering, we’re here to guide you through every stage of your pomegranate growing journey.

We understand the anticipation that comes with growing fruit trees. To help satisfy your eagerness, we offer well-established plants that will settle quickly, bringing you closer to that first homegrown pomegranate.

Embrace the challenge and reward of growing these ancient fruits. With Pomona Fruits, you’re not just buying a tree; you’re embarking on a horticultural adventure. You’re bringing a piece of the Mediterranean to your doorstep and adding a conversation piece to your garden.
