Blackberry & Hybrid Bushes

Blackberries and hybrid berries (arising from crosses between raspberries and blackberries) will thrive under a wide range of site and soil conditions and need not take up much room in your garden. They will tolerate sun or shade and are useful for covering a north facing wall, trellis or fence. With a selection of different varieties it is possible to harvest fruit from early July until the autumn. Although bursting with flavour when eaten fresh, surplus fruit freezes well and can be used to make excellent jam and crumbles! Trained plants can grow and be maintained to a height of 1.5-1.8m (5-6ft) and should be planted 1.8-2.4m (6-8ft) apart.

Browse our large range of UK grown blackberry bushes and hybrid berry bushes. We understand the allure of picking sun-warmed berries straight from your own garden, and we’re here to help you realise that delightful vision. Pot grown blackberry bushes are available for despatch throughout the year.

Are you yearning for the nostalgic taste of wild blackberries but finding foraging through thorny hedgerows less than appealing? Our carefully chosen selection of blackberry bushes offers the perfect solution. We’ve handpicked varieties that combine the wonderful flavour of wild blackberries with the convenience and productivity of cultivated plants.

Perhaps you’ve hesitated to grow blackberries, fearing they might overwhelm your garden. We empathise with this concern and have sourced compact varieties suitable for smaller spaces. ‘Loch Ness’ blackberry, for instance, offers a thornless option that’s perfect for modest gardens and ‘Tiny Black’ is ideal for growing in a pot, proving that you don’t need acres of land to enjoy homegrown berries.

For those seeking something truly extraordinary, our hybrid berry bushes present an exciting opportunity to explore unique flavours. Have you ever tasted a tayberry with its delightful blend of raspberry and blackberry notes? Or perhaps you're intrigued by the boysenberry, a luscious cross between raspberry, blackberry, and loganberry? These hybrid wonders offer a chance to diversify your fruit garden and tantalise your taste buds with novel flavours.

We recognise that cultivating fruit bushes can sometimes feel daunting, especially for novice gardeners. Rest assured, our blackberry bushes are selected not only for their superior fruit quality but also for their ease of care. Many of our varieties, such as the ‘Chester’ blackberry, are known for their disease resistance and hardiness, making them ideal for gardeners of all experience levels.

Are thorns a concern for you or your young family members? We’ve got you covered with our range of thornless blackberry bushes. These varieties offer all the juicy goodness of traditional blackberries without the prickly hazards, making harvesting a joy rather than a chore.

For those with a penchant for extended harvests, our range includes early, mid, and late-season varieties. By choosing a combination of these, you can enjoy fresh blackberries from your garden for several months rather than a brief few weeks.

At Pomona Fruits, we’re passionate about helping you create a thriving fruit garden. That’s why we offer comprehensive growing guides alongside our blackberry bushes for sale. From planting tips to pruning advice, we’re here to support you every step of the way, ensuring your berry bushes flourish and produce bountiful harvests year after year.
