Strawberry Plants

If you have ever grown your own strawberries before you will know that the aroma and flavour is far superior to that of shop bought fruit. What’s more, they take up a minimum amount of room and are easy to grow. All they require is a sunny, sheltered spot. Strawberry plants can be spaced 30cm (12in) apart in the open ground. Alternatively they can be grown in growbags (10 plants per growbag), or in hanging baskets or containers.

Pomona Fruits offer one of the largest, if not the largest range of strawberry plants for sale in the UK. We understand the irresistible appeal of these luscious berries and the joy they bring to gardens and taste buds alike. Our fantastic range of UK grown strawberry plants is designed to cater to every gardener’s dream, from the novice to the experienced horticulturist.

Are you longing for the incomparable flavour of home-grown strawberries but feel uncertain about cultivating your own? We would like to assure you that growing strawberries can be a rewarding and straightforward experience. We offer a range of strawberry plants for sale that are chosen not only for their superior fruit quality but also for their disease resistance and ease of care.

We recognise that the traditional June-bearing strawberries have a frustratingly short season. That’s why our range also includes everbearing (‘perpetual’) varieties like ‘Mara des Bois’ and ‘Flamenco’. With a thoughtful selection, you could be enjoying home-grown strawberries from early summer right through to autumn!

At Pomona Fruits, we’re passionate about helping you get the most from your strawberry plot. That’s why our strawberry plants come with comprehensive care instructions. From soil preparation tips to advice on removing runners, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

Wondering how long it takes for strawberry plants to bear fruit? It’s natural to be keen on tasting your homegrown strawberries. Let’s compare the different types of plant, when they should be planted and when they will fruit:

  • fresh dug runners - these are planted in the autumn (October/November) and will produce a small crop the following season.
  • coldstored strawberry plants (coldstored runners) - these are planted in the spring/summer and will crop 60-90 days after planting.
  • Supercrowns - these are coldstored runners with a larger crown size. They are planted in the spring/summer and, due to the larger crown size will maximise the 60-90 day yield.

Embrace the opportunity to grow your own strawberries and savour the unparalleled taste of freshly picked fruit. Browse our selection of UK grown strawberry plants and allow us to assist you in choosing the perfect varieties for your garden.
