Asparagus 'Burgundine' (12 crowns) Code: ASP007

£24.95 inc. p&p 24.9500 In Stock New

Asparagus officinalis 'Burgundine'

This new purple male dominant F1 hybrid is exceptionally sweet and the low fibre content means the spears are particularly tender even when eaten raw, with virtually no waste at the base. Excellent gently steamed but also a very tasty addition to salads. Outyields many of the green types.

Bred in the U.K.  RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Season: mid.

Available for delivery: April - late May.

Asparagus is expensive to buy in the shops but is easy to grow and tastes delicious freshly harvested from the garden. In our opinion there is no other vegetable that beats home-grown asparagus, simply steamed and served with melted butter or Hollondaise sauce. We supply large one year old crowns which will establish quickly so that you can harvest your first crop (we recommend only sparingly) just one year after planting. Plants should be spaced 38cm (15in) apart in rows 1m (3ft) apart. Available from April to late May.
